Mary Korpi is a docent at Horton Point Lighthouse and serves on the Board of Trustees at the Southold Historical Museum, overseeing the nautical museum in the lighthouse. For the last 22 years, she served as a vocational rehabilitation counselor at Nassau BOCES. She retired to the North Fork in June 2017 after working with people with special needs her entire career.

Mrs. Korpi was drawn to Stella Prince through her research into the lighthouse. She discovered that Stella was not even included on the Coast Guard's official list of women lighthouse keepers and set out to rectify that mistake. After many months of communication with the Coast Guard historian, Stella Prince was added to the list in February 2023.
