
Lois Schmitt has been a mystery fan since she read her first Nancy Drew as a child. She combines her love of mysteries with her love of animals in her in her series featuring wildlife reporter Kristy Farrell. She is a member of several wildlife and humane organizations as well as Mystery Writers of America and the Long Island Authors Group.
Lois received second runner up for the Killer Nashville Claymore Award for her second book, Something Fishy. Her books, which are cozy mysteries, all take place on Long Island. Although this is a series, each book can be read as a stand-alone.
Lois received her undergraduate and masters degree at Hofstra University. She is a member of the adjunct faculty at Nassau Community College where she teaches personal finance. She previously worked as education coordinator and media spokesperson for the Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs.
Lois grew up in Brooklyn and attended Grover Cleveland High School. She now lives in Massapequa (for several decades) with her family which includes her 120 pound Bernese Mountain dog. This dog bears a striking resemblance to Archie, a large dog of many breeds, featured in her Kristy Farrell Mystery Series.
